The weight loss experts tell us that a low calorie lunch is the best way to tackle food cravings. It is estimated that such a diet would result in an 11kg of weight lost within one year.
A recent study proved this idea when they observed 17 women who ate as much as they liked to from a buffet and were given this freedom for a period of 3 weeks. The only stipulation was that they could not exceed 250 calories in whole.
Those who stuck to the lunch comprising of 250 calories each day lost 500 grams of weight in 2 weeks and their appetites did not increase when they were eating other meals.
The research shows that one can lose weight without undertaking to participate in a strict dietary regime. Controlling the calories ingested at lunchtime, one was able to control their weight. We know that in order to lose weight we need to burn as many calories as we ingest but that is easier said than done. For those who are obese, these small changes made in relation to appetite will go a long way.
As long as we are waiting for the approval of Qnexa, such studies are invaluable. With the Food and Drug Administration coming down so hard on pharmaceutical companies who are trying to get their products on the market, we may be waiting some time yet.
